Renault will showcase an electric 4x4 Renault 4 at this years Paris Motor Show. The car shown in Paris will be a high-riding off-roader inspired by the 4L Trophy, a Dakar-style rally across the Moroccan desert, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year.

Ahead of the official reveal Renault have teased us once again with a couple of pictures.

The 4 will be joined in Paris by the new Renault Mégane E-Tech Electric, already on sale in France, as well as the Renault Austral, which replaces the Nissan Qashqai-based Renault Kadjar.

When officially launched, The Renault 4 is expected to be a small crossover or SUV. It will go into production by 2025 as a companion model to the retro-themed Renault 5 small electric hatchback.

The Renault 4, Renault 5, and the Alpine small car will be built on a new platform called CMR-BEV derived from the existing Renault/Nissan CMF-B platform. According to Auto News Europe, the architecture has a new center section to accommodate a flat battery pack, but 50% of its components are carried over from the CMF-B platform. Renault and Nissan will share the CMF-BEV platform for small cars and the CMF-EV platform for compact and midsize cars. By 2030, every new Renault model launched for Europe should be all electric, says Renault CEO Luca de Meo.
